First, my favorite goofy photo of the month:
Thank you for reading Bookish. Knowing you’re out there encourages me to keep at it.
A brief note about two brainchilds—one Substack’s, one my own:
If you're in a book club and would like to read Direct Sunlight: Stories, Please Be Advised: A Novel in Memos, or one of my previous books, I’m available for a free Zoom chat with your book group. There’s also the recent short fiction anthology I edited, Love in the Time of Time’s Up (—> paperback & ebook here) with stories by Lynn Freed, Karen Bender, Gina Frangello, May-lee Chai, Cris Mazza, Jenny Shank, Melissa Fraterrigo, Rachel Swearingen, and several other writers of note. (My father, not prone to passing out compliments like Halloween candy, read it recently and said, “These stories are really good.” The anthology features tonally diverse stories from many POVs.)
Discoverability is a perennial problem for many writers and creators, and to address this, Substack recently created a comp program for subscriber referrals. If you think your literary friends would enjoy Bookish, please invite them to subscribe.
