A brief note about two brainchilds—one Substack’s, one my own:

1. If you're in a book club and would like to read Direct Sunlight: Stories, Please Be Advised: A Novel in Memos, or one of my previous books, I’m available for a free Zoom chat with your book group. There’s also the recent short fiction anthology I edited, Love in the Time of Time’s Up (—> paperback & ebook here) with stories by Lynn Freed, Karen Bender, Gina Frangello, May-lee Chai, Cris Mazza, Jenny Shank, Melissa Fraterrigo, Rachel Swearingen, and several other writers of note. (My father, not prone to passing out compliments like Halloween candy, read it recently and said, “These stories are really good.” The anthology features tonally diverse stories from many POVs.)

2. Discoverability is a perennial problem for many writers and creators, and to address this, Substack recently created a comp program for subscriber referrals. If you think your literary friends would enjoy Bookish, please invite them to subscribe.

How to participate

1. Share Bookish. When you use the referral link below, or the “Share” button on any post, you'll get credit for any new subscribers. Simply send the link in a text, email, or share it on social media with friends.

2. Earn comps. When more friends use your referral link to subscribe (free or paid), you’ll receive the following subscription comps:

• Receive a 1-month comp for 3 referrals

• Receive a 3-month comp for 8 referrals

• Receive a 6-month comp for 25 referrals
