In a nose-thumbing to Twitter (which now permits anyone to buy a blue checkmark and has effaced all previously vetted checkmarks - yesterday I came upon a dog-pile where newly blue-checkmarked trolls were targeting a public figure & thought, “Time to leave this site full of boneheads” but I haven’t yet because I manage the account for one of my teaching jobs), Substack has started a “Notes” section.
I’ve been posting there over the last week and a half, as have many other Substackers.
I’ll use Notes in between the Monday & Friday essays/features I send to subscribers.
How to join
Head to substack.com/notes or find the “Notes” tab in the Substack app. As a subscriber to Bookish, you’ll automatically see my notes. Feel free to like, reply, or share them around!
You can also share notes of your own.
If you encounter any problems, you can always refer to the Notes FAQ for assistance. Looking forward to seeing you there!
While I am enjoying the Notes thing, it's become quite the time suck (but in a good way) to spend an hour (or two!) hitting refresh. I've found a lot of new voices (to me) to subcribe to.
Sometime it feels like I'm shouting into the void when I post a note, I think I've only picked up a couple of subcribers, but that's ok. Readership comes with time, and so I'm just going to focus on my writing and telling stories.
