After the preview and a few brief announcements, you’ll find information on five more literary agents presently open to queries.
An agent query letter tutorial, available to all subscribers, can be found here.
- If you’re in the Los Angeles area on Friday, August 25, 7 PM, please join Yxta Maya Murray and me for a reading at Skylight Books, 1818 N. Vermont Avenue. Yxta is a fiction writer, a Whiting Award recipient, and a law professor at Loyola Marymount University. Her new novel, God Went Like That, was published by Northwestern University Press’s Curbstone imprint this past March. I’ll be reading from Direct Sunlight: Stories, which NU Press published in June.
- The next 2 scheduled posts are an essay on a writing etiquette-related topic, and an interview with DIY podcaster Karri Offstein Rosenthal whose new podcast is HELD, a miniseries about what happened when a long-guarded family secret came to light.
- Two 📗ish offers through August 15: annual paid subscriptions are 20% off, and new founding memberships include an inscribed copy of your choice of one of the following books: Please Be Advised, Little Known Facts, The Virginity of Famous Men, Direct Sunlight, Portraits of a Few of the People I’ve Made Cry, Paris, He Said, or Love in the Time of Time’s Up. (I’ll drop you a note for inscription details and mailing address.)
